Vasili Dzemyanovich: Free time (after the War)

Categories: Holidays and traditions, Vasili Dzemyanovich

Did you organize dancing?

Yes, we had dancing, but what can I say, only on holidays.

Only on holidays?

On Sundays.

Was every Sunday a holiday or not?

Every one. Every Sunday. It was a day off.

So every Sunday you had dancing, did you? What did they play?

Accordion, tambourine and violin. There were three friends in Peletsy, well; one of them played the drums. They killed a dog, dag it into the dung to make the fur go out, than they stretched it on the drum until they beat it again. When they beat it, they took another one… (laughing).

Did you make the violin yourself?

No, we didn’t.

Did you buy it?

Yes, we did. It was descended. From one person to another.

What did you dance?

Polka, valtz, padegras, krakavyak, what else, lyavonikha.
