Lubou Veramei: About life before the war
Categories: Family, Lubou Veramej
Please tell me, Lubou Uladzimirauna, what bright memories do you have about pre-war period when there was the Polish governance here?
In the Polish times we tilled the land, we worked the land. We had fourteen hectares of land. It was hard. Our father was sick. The elder daughters had to do all about the household. They did most of the time. I had two sisters and they worked the land more: they harrowed the ground there or worked with the horses, on the ground. They did most of the work. And when I grew up and I went to harrow the ground too. In the Polish times, of course, we lived poorly. The family was large. Well. The land was free. There was forest and father cut it over. He hired the people for that. And in the place where the forest was he tilled the land. It was hard, he smashed his health here. And we worked as best we could. What can I tell you more about Poland. During the Polish times I was, of course, still small. Well, it was quite difficult, of course, to live in the Polish times.
