Repression

Categories: Confessional and international relations, Jakov Kiselev

I don't remember anything that can prove that there were any conflicts between nationalities. Normal life was going on. Well, only if someone told something for the man in the street. I do not remember any bad word against me, for example. The Kozlovy lived opposite us, they had their own children. Everything was ok. As usual. No one even attached importance to this issue. Then it was 1938. And in 1937 they seized up the people for this… for building an addition to the police building, they also built a fence. They herded people and held them all summer. Without any reason, including my uncle, the director of the school. Then autumn came and they released the people, what to do with them. They had to be judged or what to deal with them. And they were released. A few people were taken away and they were gone. Nobody could explain then.

And did repressions touch upon your family?

No, our family was not affected. In fact, at that time they did not touched upon anyone. Well, they seized such people like us and then released. So then, well, I don't remember anyone been taken, but it has not been borne in mind.
