Alla Gajdis: About mass execution during the War

Categories: Wartime, Alla Gajdis

They took soldiers to be shot. After they were taken over there, a hole was dug, there were such a hill, forest and such a ditch, a drain around it, when the people were walking the ground was stirring. The soltys appointed people to fill the ditch with earth because you could see either a leg or hand. And now people gather sorrel there, but I tell them that there is burying-place here.

But the monument is over there!

They established a monument close to the road, but there is a forest behind the field over there. My classmate lived there, that was a private property. One person jumped out and ran away, he and his mother overturned and they started to shoot, he crossed Festivalnaya Street and farther where there was a bigger forest. They came here by covered cars; they had fardels on their shoulders or in their hands. They told that they were the Jews. Our Pavel (brother-in-law) went to regional executive committee and asked them why they couldn’t establish a monument there; later on they raised a monument. He often went there. My mother and father went there; they told that the ground was shaking. Only a top of the hill is left.
